{UAH} African Man Perspective on Feminism.

25.09.2020.

Nkwene N. Nelson, Why, I am a feminist!

When I talk of gender equality. I am not  saying one gender is more equal than the other. Equality comes from the word equal. In runyankole we call it okwingana, in Luganda- Okwenkana. I am talking about positive masculinity. I am talking about doing a way with pseudo  conservative belief that men are superior, I am talking about doing away with patriarch system.

I am talking of this being 21st century where we measure one ability to work/deliver not by their muscular abilities but mental ability. In the previous century Men used to be taken as superior  because they fought in wars because of the muscular strength, today,  wars, if any, are fought using advanced technology. Do you need to be muscular to press a computer button authorizing a missile? No. So why, can't a woman do it?
If you were working in a same company as your wife, her earning 2 million and you earning 1 million. And a new company policy requires one of you to step down. Who would step down? You or her?

When I talk of gender equality in marriage, I mean, we should look at our wives as partners not subjects or subordinates!

I believe we are all equal before God!
