{UAH} NURP back is coming up for judgement on the 16th/October 2020

Lawyers disown Moses Kibalama -former founders of National Unity and Reconciliation party (NURP) Moses Kibalama Nkonge and Paul Ssimbwa Kagombe have been disowned by a law firm which they claim to have instructed to file affidavits denying voluntarily giving away of their party to presidential hopeful Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu.

In the letter dated 28th/September originating from the firm of Barungi Baigana and company advocates addressed to the registrar in-charge of the Civil division of the Highcourt, the lawyers deny to have formal instructions to represent Kibalama, Ssimbwa and 7 others in a case where they are accused of unlawfully changing their party name to NUP.

The letter further informs court that no lawyer from the said law firm appeared on record for the proceedings of 25th/September 2020(Friday last week) as both Kibalama and Ssimbwa appeared for cross-examination.
The lawyers claim that physical address quoted on the affidavits of Kibalama is not theirs as the firm has since shifted from Mabirizi complex to Kisozi complex on Kyaggwe road.
Kibalama the former president of NURP and Ssimbwa the former Secretary General of the party however informed Highcourt judge Musa Ssekaana that they consulted lawyers of Barungi Baigana &company advocates who advised them to swear other affidavits rectracting what they had earlier stated that they amicably agreed with Kyagulanyi to change NURP to NUP.

The 2 former founders also confirmed under oath that they furnished forged paper work including minutes , resolutions and list of meeting attendees to the Electoral commission for purposes of changing the party's name to NUP.
However yesterday, the same court received another letter from the firm of Byamukama, Kaboneke and company advocates which represents the applicants; Basile Difas and Twaha Hassan indicating that the firm of Barungi Baigana&company advocates has been actively representing Kibalama and Ssimbwa because even on the 15th September 2020 when the case first came up for hearing, a lawyer by the names of Ronald Mugisha from Barungi and Baigana advocates appears on court record to have represented Kibalama and co-respondents.

According to Byamukama's firm, without a formal notice of withdrawal of instructions and after hearing the case last Friday , it's on bad faith that the firm of Barungi and Baigana disowns Kibalama and his group now.
The case in which Difas and Hassan Twaha want their NURP back is coming up for judgement on the 16th/October 2020.
