{UAH} THINGS CHANGE WHEN YOU LOSE POWER?

By Edgar Muvunyi Tabaro

Folks, in the 70s were some really powerful persons in Tooro of Nubian extract. Noor Mohammed (an ex tractor driver for Fort Portal Municipal Council) who suddenly became Commerce Minister, the notorious Ali Towili (a detective who became head of the dreaded Public Safety Unit, Naguru) and Hussein Ssebi among many others. Noor Mohammed died a pauper selling Mandazi in Kitumba-Kyepatiko some 5 or so years ago but lived in harmony with community. Hussein Ssebi went into exile for over 10 years and returned to a hero's welcome, he was a darling to the population. He soon became a respected elder in Tooro. His imposing mansion on Kla road remained intact for the years he was in exile and unoccupied save for a corner of the large garden used as a bar by a certain D/IP Katsigazi (father to Col. Gadaffi Kazinkware of RPA). I don't whether Towili is alive, however, on the fall of Fort Portal to liberators in 1979 his farm in Bukwali on Kamwenge road was raided (unusually done by the politest people I've ever known - Batooro), the chain link fence taken down. Cattle cut into pieces, house pulled down brick by brick, tile by tile. Nothing was looted but all destroyed).

Lesson, as long as we shall live there will always be tomorrow. Use power to serve the people not torture them. This message is directed to persons I needn't mention. I have enough enemies already because of my stand on critical issues. Awulidde ategeze omulala!
