{UAH} Industrial parks are sign of growth
Seeing the increasing spirit of construction of industrial parks in Uganda is a good reflection of our chase for transforming our country into middle income status. The fact that Umeme has connected power to Njeru Industrial Park, will bring development not only to the park, but also to the entire district and beyond.
The construction of factories in the 800-acre land was initially held back by lack of power. But now that electricity supply is in place, we expect full economic activities, including production of goods and provision of employment to the youth.
This is evidence of progress in the way the systems should run; in fact I even saw another one in Mbale visited by the State Minister for Investment and Privatisation Evelyn Anite.
The sole purpose for the development of industrial parks is to boost our country's economic status through facilitating the development of synergies between governments and the private sector organisations and foster innovative industrial-agrarian models allowing for sustainable economic development.
Let's not forget that industrialisation is more than an engine of economic growth, but it is also the catalyst for the technological, financial and socio-economic transformation.
The major advantage of industrial parks is that they provide an institutional framework, modern services and a physical infrastructure that may not be available in the rest of the country, which is our target ,because these industrial parks and eco-parks serve as a tool to further inclusive and sustainable industrial development in our country. And we also know that both industrial park development and Eco-industrial park development aim to embed industries in society through the creation of shared economic opportunities, improved ecosystems and innovative avenues for responsible business practices not living out the promotion of resource efficiency and circular economic practices.
They also help bridge the gap between cities and industries by making a significant contribution to sustainable cities, which is an advantage to our country because we have just concluded with the creation of new cities.
We strongly need to embrace the creation of these industrial parks because they are a link to our country heading to the middle income status.
