{UAH} Choose Peace Over War – Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga Tells Believers

UJCC leader and Archbishop of Kampala, Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga has called upon believers in Christ and all Ugandan citizens to maintain the highest level of Peace at all costs.

"Let us have peace right from our homes. This will be a cure for domestic violence. Do everything that brings peace and your children will learn. Be at peace with your neighbors, because they are the immediate people to help you when you are in need. Politicians, let us work towards peace in our country," the man of God said.

The Archbishop has been under fire since announcing this week that the UJCC wants elections to be postponed for another 3 years, and the Constitution be amended to allow Museveni to continue ruling during the period of postponement

Dr. Lwanga's remarks came just hours before the Ministry of Health had registered 489 new COVID-19 infections with seven new virus deaths as cases on Wednesday rose to 32,399. The ministry said virus deaths had reached 245.

Dr. Lwanga urged believers and all citizens to follow the SOPs noting that COVID19 is real. "Those who didn't take enough care died in numbers in America. We have also started losing many people to the pandemic," he cautioned.

The Archbishop emphasising that the birth of Jesus is also a sign of peace, hope and love. "Love your neighbor as you love yourself. Would you kill yourself if you love yourself? Would you want to be beaten?" the cleric asked.

He said, "Our motto is for God and My Country. Irrespective of religion, we all love God. We should be agents of God in our deeds,"

"Those contesting especially on presidential should be asked on the real issues that are affecting us. The debate shouldn't be on trading insults, Dr. Lwanga added.

Dr. Lwanga is only emphasising his point of keeping peace, as he had ealier on last month called upon Ugandans to refrain from rioting and resort to peaceful demonstrations to practice their constitutional rights.
Archbishop Lwanga said that most Ugandans do not know the difference between demonstrations and rioting, and that it's the reason why they confuse both and end up battling with security agencies.

Archbishop Lwanga's stated so after at least 50 Ugandans lost lives and hundreds were injured as a result of protests that were sparked off when Robert Sentamu Kyagulanyi, the NUP presidential candidate was arrested in Luuka district last month.

The Archbishop argued that it was unfortunate that many innocent Ugandans lost lives, others sustained injuries and many lost properties as a result of this protest yet Ugandans had an option of using peaceful demonstration which is their constitutional right to show their grievances.
