{UAH} NRM Is Not Buying Bobi Wine Supporters, Ask Them Why They Are Deserting You – Dombo Tells NUP
Key opposition aspirants have been regularly blocked and their campaigns interfered with by state security on grounds of flouting COVID19 guidelines. Opposition members have since tasked the police and other security agencies to do the same with President Museveni's NRM party.
In a dramatic turn of events however, the National Resistance Movement party is asking the Police to explain why they have failed to enforce COVID19 guidelines in areas where their candidate Yoweri Museveni is holding scientific campaigns.
Dombo further stated that there's no reason to panic like the opposition wants to portray it. The NRM publicist believes that in this coming election, both security and democracy will prevail.
"When there's security, there's democracy," Dombo said, to justify several notable arrests of government critics citing that it's necessary for maximum security measures.
Relatively on the hasty arrest of human rights lawyer Nicholas Opiyo, Dombo said the government is not panicking but only taking caution as early to any security threats.
"We are in a speedy world. Everything you do must be speedy. If the NGOs are involved in terrorism and money laundering, the security agencies will find out, and they will tell us. Terrorism is taking place elsewhere because here, the security agencies are doing their job," Dombo added, justifying Opiyo's contentious arrest, and applauding the swiftness in state security operations.
"The police indeed arrested Nicholas Opiyo, and they admitted they have him. Others just go missing. He must be treated as innocent until proven guilty. He must be given the opportunity to see his lawyers and family," Dombo said.
The NRM publicist also asked the government to expedite the process of taking Nicholas Opiyo to court. He argued that it is only the duty of the Police to tell the people of Uganda why Opiyo was arrested.
