{UAH} Greater Bushenyi Tables demands to president Museveni
On the second day of his scientific campaigns in Ankole sub region, President Museveni met delegated from districts of Bushenyi, Mitooma, Sheema, Rubirizi and Buhwenju who tabled a memo full of demands to the president.
The memo which was presented by Bushenyi NRM chairperson Hassan Basajjabalaba had a number of issues which include demand for a tarmac road for Buhwenju district.
Buhweju also requested for tea seedlings to boost household incomes.
Mitooma requested for support to complete the district administration block. The building needs Sh 3b to be complete.
Sheema requested for the support of Ankole Western University and a central market.
Rubirizi requested for an electric fence to deter wild animals from destroying their gardens and also urged the president to discipline UPDF officers who are harassing the fishermen on Lake Kyoga.
Party leaders complained about the plight of the multi billion banana processing factory in Bushenyi which Museveni blamed Parliament for frustrating the project.
The pilot project involves value addition to bananas by turning matooke into diverse products such as bread, cookies and flour.
Ankole and Bushenyi in particular is the one of Uganda's; leading producers of Matooke.
Museveni pressed leaders to explain why more money has not been given to Muranga, the director of the Presidential Initiative on Banana Industrial Development.
