{UAH} THE INNOCENT SSENYANGE OF 2020 WAS NOT AS LUCKY AS THE FUGITIVE MUSEVENI OF 1973
By CHANGE OF GUARDS
"Information was received that this unfortunate young person (Ssenyange) was training boxers who would be used by some people to attack civilians. Zebra was meant to meet me, he was an NRM supporter who was doing so much for us. I got some information of how some of the youths trained by him were involved in controversy over a taxI park in that area. The security people had gone to take in Zebra and ask him some questions. When I heard of his death, I telephoned his wife and she narrated to me the events. When they got to his home at 12:03 a.m; they knocked but people inside didn't open. Zebra was in the sitting room but instead of opening he went behind the house. His wife opened for the soldiers. His wife and son cooperated with security. Apparently, he climbed over the fence and went some distance away. He went some distance away and bumped into another security team and that is the controversy I want to conclude. Soldiers say when they stopped him he refused and tried to fight them. He was shot twice and died. I specifically decided to take on his case and I have so far found out he was killed by security personnel. I am very sorry, so sorry about this. I will bring my entire findings to the knowledge of the family. I am very sorry."
Museveni's new year's address - 31/12/2020
In August 1971, Museveni, together with Magode Ikuya and Abwooli Malibo used student identity cards and the cover of being Makerere University students going on a geology study trip, travelled to Mbale to visit their anti-Iddi Anim guerrilla camp that had been established in the Mount Eligon area. Unknown to Museveni and his two colleagues, some of their fighters from that camp including Rait Omongin had been captured and killed. Upon reaching a village in Bumbo area, the three were arrested by the then Police Intelligence Wing, the Special Branch operative. During interrogation, the villagers gathered and wanted to lynch the three, accusing them of being guerrillas. One angry villager went for Museveni's neck with a sharp machete but Museveni shoved it off with his hand as he fell down for cover. The scar he sustained from the injury on his arm is still visible. The villagers were restrained and the three set free. However, in his Mustard Seed, Museveni deliberately avoids mentioning the attempted lynching.
The following year, on January 22, 1973, Museveni again travelled to Mbale together with Martin Mwesiga and Wuku Kazimoto Mpiima for the same reasons. They ended up at the home of their other colleague, Maumbe Mukhwana in the Malukhu Housing Estate. As they settled down, soldiers surrounded the house and called them outside. During interrogation as to their identities, Museveni jumped over the hedge and ran away. Using his pistol, he shot and injured the soldier who was chasing him. His two captured colleagues were killed but he managed to escape unhurt. The car they were using was found with a cache of firearms. In his Mustard Seed he says;
"At around 5.00 p.m..........they surrounded the house in an unprofessional manner, without cocking their guns. Taking them by surprise, I jumped over the hedge."
The criminal fugitive of 50 years ago who survived because of the 'unprofessionalism and stupidity' of Iddi Amin's security personnel is now sending his security personnel to professionally surround the innocent Ssenyange's house and cleverly shoot him dead.
