{UAH} MP Zaake arrested as Bobi Wine can't leave his home

By Joseph Tumwesigye

Mityana Municipality MP, Francis Zaake has been arrested by the police in Magere, Wakiso.

According to reports, Zaake was heading to the home of National Unity Platform's (NUP) Robert Kyagulanyi when he was arrested.

Kyagulanyi has not been able to leave his home since Friday after police surrounded it. He is also not allowed visitors. Our reporter, Cliff Wamala and other journalists were denied access to his home.

On Friday, the Deputy Spokesperson of the Kampala Metropolitan police, Luke Owoyesigire confirmed that security operatives had surrounded Kyagulanyi home.

"This is being done to basically give security to the area" Owoyesigire told NTV Uganda.

A few indiviudals have already been arrested including Francis Zaake.

According to our report, Wamala, Zaake was taken to Kasangati p[olice station after his arrest. Later the police called his wife to pick him up at the station.

Zaake is currently at Rubaga hospital, Kampala where he is recieving treatment after sustaining injuries.

This is not the first time Francis Zaake has entangled with the police in ways that have landed him in hospital.

Early 2020, Zaake was arrested at his home in Mityana district for ignoring COVID-19 health SOPs by buying food and distributing it to a crowd in his constituency during the lockdown. He later ended up in hospital with injuries attained while in custody of the police.

The government would later come out and say that Zaake's injuries were self-inflicted as he was being transported from Mityana to Kampala.

During the debate on ammending the Presidential age limit, Zaake received a punch that landed him in hospital.
