{UAH} The battle for KCCA Speakership!

By Rajab Kaaya Sema

The battle for KCCA Speakership!

The battle for KCCA Speakership is already on and several elected Authority Councilors have started positioning themselves to seek the mandate to take up the second top most and powerful political office in the Capital City.

When the current KCCA Speaker Hon. Kawalya Abubaker MP Elect Lubaga North presented his credentials to the Authority Councilors, some section of colleagues blackmailed him and others were bent on undermining him. He has since exhibited capacity to create sanity and harmony at KCCA which used to be a centre for political battles.

Those of us who supported his candidature knew very well that the he understood better both the techinal and political issues at KCCA having worked previously with the same institution.

Hon. Kawalya Abubaker goes on record as a leader who has united the councilors and minimised the political wars at KCCA.

Some prophets of doom thought that the KCCA Speakership position would cost Hon. Kawalya Abubaker politically! to the contrary, his success at KCCA and the maturity exhibited so far, explains his continued success and why he is destined for more greater opportunities in his career.

What kind of Speaker does KCCA and NUP need ?

There is no doubt the National Unity Platform though sounds new on paper, it's apparent success in the struggle for change has has been due to selfless, commitment and availability of an experienced human resource. It's this resource that NUP enjoys which is a key  requirement and an ingridient in sustaining the struggle for change.

Those who have so far positioned themselves to seek the Speakership mandate among others include comrades; Kizza Hakim, Katabu Moses, Ssebuufu John Mary, Tegusuulwa Innocent and Luyulika Zahara, Keeya Jeremiah and Mubiru James.

It's crucially important to note that these are different political times which may henceforth require a different approach. Although Hon.  Ssebuufu John Mary and Hon. Katabu Moses are also seniors in the struggle, Hon. Kizza Hakim is the most credible and suitable candidate for Speakership that KCCA and NUP wants. He is very skillful at strategy and political mobilisation, very resilient and committed to the tasks as exhibited in NUP's informal sector and mobilization for NUP, he is a mentor to the many young leaders who have been elected in Kampala City both at division and Authority levels including some MPs in the central part of Uganda. He commands the highest respect and most importantly uncompromising and very loyal to NUP's command.
