{UAH} NRM secretly approaching our MPs for talks
The National Unity Platform party has accused the ruling NRM party of secretly trying to engage its newly elected Members of Parliament for talks. NUP says its members who have just won elective seats are being secretly contacted by the ruling NRM government tasking them to work with president Museveni if they want to reap big from the 2021-2026 term.
Speaking to journalists this morning, the NUP spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi confirmed that their MPs were being secretly contacted but added that they will not relent. "
For us we joined this struggle when we were not after money. We want a convenient Uganda for everyone. So when we condemn government poor policies like unemployment, and I'm given billions will that make the youths employed?," he asks.
"We have also been approached several times. You can't imagine how often they have approached Hon. Kyagulanyi to betray the struggle but our focus is not on enriching ourselves. We are not working for ourselves but our people," he adds.
However, the NRM media strategist Emmanuel Dombo Lumala disregards the said acclaims saying he is unaware of such engagements. "We have not approached NUP for talks. However, we will not chase away those who will come for negotiations because this is our country and we have to serve the people who voted for us," he says. "And NRM has the majority seats and therefore it is a great idea to work with us," he adds.
