{UAH} Flashback: The day Oyite Ojok was disarmed.
In early 1982, as a series of negotiations to end the bayira rebellion in Kasese climaxed, David Oyite Ojok, Chris Rwakasisi, Capt. Namiti, Amon Bazira were among the gov't delegations that met the Bakonjo kingdom officials.
-- Every one who traveled to meet the Rwenzururu King Iremagoma were disarmed by Rwenzururu kingdom army.
Many officials tried to protest but Oyite Ojok told them to oblige. All of Oyite's escorts were disarmed.
He was even forced to ceremoniously inspect the guard of honor of the Bayira army while the Rwenzururu national anthem was sang. It was a very weird situation.
The king later arrived and did the same while the gov't delegation looked like a bunch of nobodies.
Anyway in a classic Oyite Ojok diplomatic way of handling complex political problems, everything the king demanded was agreed upon and delivered. The king was later to relocate to USA for further studies while most of him army got assimilated into UNLA.
