{UAH} Parenting

The most scary bit in my adult life has been single  parenting.....but I know it will come to pass.  A lot is happening to our children whether from single or not single relationships. But what matters most as parents, let's create time for our children despite our busy schedules. These millennial children are not as controllable as we thought them to be. They are getting more and more creative. 

Dear Fathers, parenting is not about making a child or paying school fees alone. It's more than that. Create time for your children  especiallly the girl child. A father is the girl's first love. Strengthen that bond between your child, treat the mother well. That bond with your daughter will be very crucial in her life about decision making, how she handles relationships be it platonic or romantic relationships, how long it takes her to become sexually  active etc. Blaming each other as parents will not solve anything unless you strengthen that bond with your girl child. From an early age, she s craving for your attention. Give it to her. 

For the mothers reading this, your role is to nurture ,build your children into responsible beings of society. All the life skills, behaviors, how to sustain relationships your children will copy from you. It's your role as a mother to teach the boy child how a boy/ man should treat the girl/ women around her. We tend to focus so much on the girl child and leave the boys to rediscover things on their own.....reason we are having so many broken relationships. The girl child has suffered in all this. Let us not be the soft ones because we don't want to "annoy" our children. Fearing to annoy is a catalyst for all the problems your children will face in future. Let all children boy/ girl do the same house work. My son hates washing utensils but he must learn how to do it.... oba ayagala oba tayagala.

Just know as parents, the hard parts of parenting are yet to come. We used to watch these bad decisions taken by bazungu children in movies, now they have come to bite us in Africa. Read extensively about parenting, adolescence, sex education...etc these are a course of its own😂, how to parent millennial children. Have some tips on how to handle
