{UAH} Killing Suspects Means You Are Hiding Something: Minister Nantaba Blames Gen. Lokech For Shooting Dead Gen. Katumba Shooters During Arrest

Kayunga district women member of parliament Aida Erios Nantaba has blamed the nonsense Deputy Inspector General of police Maj. Gen. Paul Lokeck for killing suspected gunmen who attacked Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala and killed his daughter Brenda Nantongo Katumba and driver Sgt. Haruna Kayondo.

On Thursday, Maj. Gen. Lokech revealed that the joint security team investigating Gen. Katumba's assassination attempt killed Wahab Lubwama alias Master when he was trying to resist arrest.

Maj. Gen. Lokech added that security also arrested Kamada Walusimbi, alias Mudinka,  Siriman Kisambira, alias Mukwasi, Mustafa Kawawa Ramadan, alias Amin, alias Musa, Muhammad Kagugube, alias Bafumoya.

However, former Lands Minister Nantaba maintains that the killing of the suspects is normally done intentionally by bad elements in the police with an aim of killing evidence. Nantaba added that sometimes those who kill the suspects are involved in the whole plot from planning to execution so they have to put the suspects out of action to protect themselves.

"I am very sure that there are still a lot of Kawukumi in Uganda police even though the command changed. This is not the first time police is arresting a key suspect and killing them. You remember when I was attacked, the suspect was arrested by police handcuffed and an order came from above and he was shot by a policeman before telling us his real motive and those who sent him," Nantaba said.

She added that when her attacker was killed, the entire case died and up to now she is still scratching her head on who was behind the attack on her life.

Nantaba disclosed that the man who was killed was after her because he had been tracking her car and  was only waiting for the right spot to open fire and kill her.

Nantaba swore that until the real murderers in such cases are arrested, Ugandans will not understand the right people behind the killing of top citizens.

She however hinted that according to her, these murders are orchestrated by powerful people who are ready to kill the messenger in case they fail to execute the mission.

The soft-spoken legislator also protested government's move to install monitoring cameras in all vehicles and motorcycles in the country.

According to Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi, the Security Minister, the project is expected to start this month after passing cabinet approval.

Muhwezi explained that cabinet also resolved that the owner of the vehicle will pay the cost of installation of these monitoring gadgets for their vehicles.

He enlightened that this was done to curb the high criminality rate in the country and attacks on top government officials.

However, Nantaba rubbished the move and predicted that if this is done, Ugandans should brace themselves for more high profile murders.

She added that the move can only be successful if police is out of the project.

"If police is left to monitor cameras in our vehicles we are going to die. Let me tell you, we have been moving in fear changing vehicles, now if you fit all vehicles with these tracking systems, it is going to become easy for the attackers to trace you from one car to another and finish you off because they will know exactly where you are," she said.

She insisted that some policemen are working with murders that is why they have the capacity to kill files and investigations.
