EXTRACT FROM PRESIDENT KIZZA BESIGYE'S PRESENTATION ON MORNING AT NTV
Today, President kizza Besigye was hosted on ntv to discuss the shrinking civic space and Uganda 's poor fight against covid -19, the true freedom fighter of our second liberation to end gun rule, says;
This country has seen many scandals but the looting that has happened during this pandemic has never happened anywhere.
The pandemic has helped us to uncover what we are dealing with, now it is clear to everyone that what we are dealing with is a military junta. So, everyone should now know how to deal better with a military junta.
Churches are closed because they bring people together regularly
When political parties were or are attacked, CSOs have been quite, when we are attacked, churches are quite, we should all know that we are faced with a common enemy.
The NGOs which are not touched are the NGOs which are in line with extending the regime's interests and these ones will even continue getting funding.
NGOs which are involved in raising citizens awareness, demand accountability will have to be treated badly, the regime knows how the informed population can do
The COVID-19 figures that are being released have no relation to reality, that's why it is useless to discuss this pandemic with those figures in mind.
Up to today, we still don't have a clear plan of how we want to do things related to the COVID-19 fight. We have no vaccination plan neither do we have a clear plan of opening up.
Mr.Museveni was talking about human rights violations, 6 days later, NGOs which deal with human rights were shutdown and anybody who knows Mr.Museveni knows that actually that is him because he says things which he doesn't mean or intention.
We have classes of young people, those who are clueless, the majority with no knowledge and we have those who will be the rulers of this country
Even before Covid, some schools offered knowledge, some schools don't, we have 2 types of schools, private schools which offer knowledge and public schools which don't. Which has created classes in this country, yet education is aimed at creating equal opportunities
About 50% of the people who get Covid get well even without knowing they had contracted the virus but they can still transmit.Very many Ugandans who get/will get Covid will not need hospitalization.
If I was in government, I wouldn't spend money on immunising school children. I would put it in research.
COVID-19 continues to shine a sharp light on what type of Government that we have as a country.
Half of the people that get infected recover without even realising that they have COVID-19, many others will just get mild symptoms all because our society is largely young and that's why we must focus on the vulnerable people
There is total chaos in the vaccination process. I am even worried that many will contract COVID-19 in the process of getting vaccinated, look at the crowds at vaccination centres.
Ugandans lost trust in the people managing the pandemic and this was because there was no clear plan. All Ugandans were hearing is Government has borrowed money but no one knows where that money is
