{UAH} Believing in Hope

Hello Pemphero. I just want to share a life experience that has happened to me last year July up to now.

I am a 63 year old woman and I am a secondary school teacher, retired. I follow the stories on thie page a lot because i have always been a reader.  I fell very ill in 2004 that everyone in my family thought I was going to die. My husband convinced me to retire. I was still full of energy but I had to accept. Six months after retiring I miraculously recovered and became very healthier than ever before.

So I have been living life retired and doing different businesses to survive. I had 3 children but 2 of them died while young. The one remaining is my 32 year old son who isnt mentally ok. Sadly, my husband died in 2011 and although he was a business man most of the things we had his family took it especially his big brothers. I have struggled and witnessed unimaginable poverty Pemphero. None of my husband's relatives have to my rescue as I struggle to raise their brothers son yet when their brother was alive they were very nice to me since he was well to do.

As of last year I came to a point of even eating once sometimes in a day just to save money for rent because sometimes I would fail to even pay rent worth 55 thousand Kwacha. I prayed to God and asked why this is happening to me because all my life I have been good and kind to people.

So last year in July I went to the bank to check my account for my pension. A certain young woman came to me to greet and me said a madam mulipo. She was a student that I taught English Literature to from 1997. She asked me that she has been looking for me. I completely forgit her until she reminded me that when she was in form 1 she was chased from school because she had no uniform none of her family could manage so I paid it for her.

She offered to drop me off at home. When she saw the house I was staying in she broke down and said she didn't know. So I explained to her what happened to my husband and my children some of whom she knew. She gave me money for groceries that day 100,000 Kwacha and asked me what would I like her to help me with? I said rent and a better house if possible because the house I lived in isn't ok. She just said ok.

Then next month in August she came back with her husband and asked if i had land. Then she came back and built a 3 bedroomed house for me ftom August to December. On 1 January I entered a fully furnished house built by a student I was very kind to so many years ago. She put in new bed, sofa, cooker, fridge . I still can't believe that this happened to me, God has been grateful. Now she also helped me with a business. I am just still in shock and in disbelief. We serve a living God. May God bless this woman and all her family. Join me in celebrating her life and sharing this kindness.
