Basic Function
To work on an SFI funded project with aim of integrating smart technologies within pasture based systems of milk production. The successful candidate will be working to integrate precision technologies with grass based dairy farming in Ireland.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•To work with research scientists and PhD students in developing and implementing precision technologies into grass based dairy farms
•To monitor and collect data from the various sensors deployed to measure various aspects of the dairy farm
•To oversee the functioning of the equipment on farm

Person Specification
Essential
•Candidates must have a Level 6 qualification in agriculture ICT or a related discipline
Desirable
•A Level 7 qualification in agriculture or ICT would be a distinct advantage

Basic Function
To design, develop and test a serious of smart technologies for grass based dairy farms.

The successful candidate will be working to integrate precision technologies with grass based dairy farming in Ireland. They will also collaborate with research scientists from Telecommunications Systems and Software group (TSSG) and TrueNorthMapping (TNM).

The appointee will work with PhD students, research scientists and commercial companies to develop and implement smart solutions on dairy farms

Duties & Responsibilities specific to this project:
•Develop and evaluate precision and communication technologies for deployment on grass based dairy farms with the ultimate objective of increasing the on farm efficiency and productivity
•Collaborate with the project and other research staff

Person Specification
Essential
PhD in agricultural systems
Relevant research experience not to exceed 3 years' post-PhD

Desirable
•Experience in communication technologies
•Experience in setting own research agenda
