{UAH} Mbabazi summoned to court over ‘Go Forward’ logo

Independent Presidential candidate John Patrick Amama Mbabazi could face the hardest of times since he may have to halt his campaigns to appear in court, to defend himself in a law suit filed against him by a one Colin Asiimwe.

In Civil Suit No. 1519 of 2015, filed at the Chief Magistrate's Court of Mengo, Colin Asiimwe, a strategist and communications consultant, sued Mbabazi for failure to pay Ushs 48m for the conceptualization of the "Go Forward" campaign strategy.

Mbabazi stands at a risk of losing the rights to use the Go Forward slogan, logo, social media platforms and photographs used for his campaign materials in case he loses to the compalainant.

"The Defendant contracted the Plaintiff, a strategist and communications consultant, to develop a creative strategy, creative brief development, creative supervision, contacts and networks and meeting time for his campaign bid for the presidential elections of 2016," the court summon read in part.

Asiimwe says that he completed his work and Mbabazi had a successful launch of his campaign.

He [Mbabazi] has been traveling through the country on his campaign trail, spreading the 'Go Forward gospel' without paying for the work that was done.

The Mengo Chief Magistrate therefore summoned Mbabazi to appear in court  within ten days after which the magistrate will set the date for hearing of the case.

Mbabazi adopted the Go Forward campaign strategy after he fell out with the incumbent Presdent Museveni over disagreement on who would hold the NRM party flag for the 2016 presidential elections.
