That said, my company has an opening for a Field Technician in our Bay Area office.  This is an entry level full time position and pays $30,000.00 per year with medical and dental benefits.

FIELD TECHNICIAN

Where:                                 San Francisco Bay Area

Pay:                                       $30,000.00 / year

Job Description:                               

·         Plan, organize, install and monitor various types of field equipment for the collection of traffic, transit and parking data. 

·         Manually perform field surveys of traffic movements and parking as required. 

·         Maintain and service field equipment.

·         75% of work on Monday-Friday.  25% on Saturday-Sunday

·         Work generally evenly divided between daytime and night.

·         Attend occasional meetings with clients and other public forums

·         60-70 hour work weeks during busy period.  10-20 hour work weeks during slow periods.  Average about 40 hours a week over entire year.

Responsibilities and Duties:

·         Maintain and service traffic data collection equipment

·         Using company-provided vehicles, drive to various project sites located throughout Northern California (about 80% in Greater Bay Area).

·         Install various types of equipment designed to monitor and collect traffic data

·         Take down and retrieve traffic monitoring equipment after conclusion of each project

·         Download and summarize data from equipment using a computer

·         Manually perform various types of traffic, parking and transit surveys as sought

·         Help to recruit and supervise Assistant Field Technicians whenever needed

·         Must be able and willing to work primarily from home

·         Must be able to interact and communicate effectively and politely with general public

·         Must be able to understand and appreciate that (within reason) the needs and demands of our clients are paramount.

·         Must act as Ambassador for firm at all times.

Requirements:

·         High School Diploma or GED required

·         Must have excellent organizational and time management skills

·         Must have good communication skills

·         Must have proficient computer skills (mainly Microsoft Office) and be able and willing to learn others as needed.

·         Must have valid California driver's license with good record

·         Must have a good working knowledge of the Greater Bay Area

·         Must be able and willing to lift heavy loads (up to about 50 lbs of equipment) when necessary

·         Must be in good physical condition to meet demands of the job
