{UAH} KASUBI MOSQUE (MASJID KIBLATAIN) AT NABULAGALA
KASUBI MOSQUE (MASJID KIBLATAIN) AT NABULAGALA
This place is located along Kampala-Hoima road off Kasubi trading centre on Kasubi Munaku road next to Kasubi Tombs. The first state grass thatched Mosque was built in this place by Kabaka Muteesa I, whose first Qibla (Direction of Prayer) was in the opposite Direction, because facing the right direction would break Buganda's cultural traditions and norms of not showing Kabaka one's back while praying. However the direction of the qibla changed after Kabaka Muteesa 1, had embraced and studied Islam and had become the imam.
This is why the mosque is referred to as Masjid Qiblatain. After Muteesa I's death, the mosque collapsed and Kabaka Mwanga's sister Nalinnya Mastulla Nkizi rebuilt it. Today on this site stands Masjid Qiblatain and Kasubi Modern Islamic Primary School in commemoration of THE DECLARATION OF ISLAM AS A STATE RELIGION then. At this site, there are other historical monuments such as metallic Kettle, which was used by the Kabaka for wudhu (ablution) the pot from which He used to collect water for wudhu, the stone used to get wudhu and first Quran donated to Kabaka SsunaII by Arabs. While in Kasubi Tombs where Mutesa 1 relocated after Lubaga Palace catching Fire , where He was Buried, We also find a palm tree and the bed which were gifts from Khalid bin Bargash his half brother the Sultan of Zanzibar.

Allaah gives the best to those who leave the choice to Him."And if Allah touches you with harm, none can remove it but He, and if He touches you with good, then He is Able to do all things." (6:17)
