{UAH} BOBI WINE HAS DELETED HIS ANTI-HOMOSEXUALITY SONG FROM YOUTUBE
By Godwin Toko
People Power Spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi is out on Twitter acting surprised that Hon. Beatrice Anywar has changed her stance and is now a cabinet minister in the same NRM Government that she vehemently opposed only a few years ago. How naive!
With age and further enlightenment, I now believe that few words describe politicians (or those that insist they are only leaders and not politicians like Bobi Wine) more than "inconsistency"!
Today, I believe that it's foolish and a grave mistake to be "consistent" in politics. I don't blame Museveni for doing the same things he said he went to the bush to fight against, anymore. I don't blame Besigye for contesting two elections after 2006 even when there is evidence he said that would be his last election - I don't think it's something Ssenyonyi should be having trouble understanding!
His boss and appointing authority is Bobi Wine, fortunately, Bobi Wine seems to have mastered this political lesson unlike Ssenyonyi! Of course, once in a while, he blames Museveni for going back on his word but he doesn't scream aloud like Joel.
Those who think it's "easy" to be consistent in politics, let's use Bobi Wine as an example.A few years ago, Bobi Wine sang a song, alongside Nubia Lee in which they called homosexuals all sorts of names and for heavy punishment to be handed to them.In one particularly disturbing line for gay rights activists, Bobi sang, "Fire will burn the batty man. Burn all the batty man. All Ugandans get behind me and fight the batty man." In reference to homosexuals. In 2014, a petition was launched online and Bobi Wine's concert in the U.K around that time was canceled and the music star denied a VISA, in interviews, he said he didn't give a damn about that and will continue to use music as a medium to express himself remaining very defiant!
A few weeks ago, I was shocked to watch the same mouth of Bobi Wine - now a politician or leader like he calls himself - say he will "tolerate" the homosexuals!
Tolerating the same people you rallied Ugandans to fight?!
Certainly, Bobi Wine knows that he will rub the liberal western nations and media the wrong way if he dare say a bad thing - or read from his previous lyrics - in such an interview! He must tread cautiously!
Truth of the matter is that Homosexuality hasn't changed, most Ugandans still think it's a big problem, they want the Anti-Homosexuality Act with a section that says homosexuals should be killed, the only change here is that Bobi Wine is now a politician - like Beatrice Anywar whom Ssenyonyi is trying hard to castigate!
So, Bobi has changed just like every politician!
I won't be surprised if Bobi Wine became president and operated safe houses bigger than Museveni's, I won't raise a finger if he employed people based on nepotism and not merit for the job like Museveni does, I won't be surprised if the statehouse budget increased two-fold under him! I won't even be surprised if more money is lost to corruption.
In fact, I won't be surprised if Joel Ssenyonyi himself became a minister for Health Under the Museveni administration in 2022! I'll only appreciate how much he has learned "politics" then!
What's more?! The Bobi Wine team even deleted the homosexuality song from their YouTube Channel! They don't want that past in their books - talk of a complete 360 degree change! Day becoming night!
