{UAH} Language shapes the way we think, especially how others think of us.

Language shapes the way we think, especially how others think of us.

Instead of "you always..."
Try "I've noticed..."

Instead of "I hate it when you..."
Try "I love it when you..."

Instead of "I told you so..."
Try "Alhamdulillaah we learn and grow from this..."

Instead of "where you been?"
Try "how you been..."

Instead of "Do this"
Try "it would be great if you could..."

Instead of "this is wrong"
Try "I was wondering if you could clarify where you got this/ how you concluded this..."

One of the pious predecessors said: "Select your words like you select your fruit. Sweet and full of flavour".

I read that questions starting with "why" usually come off in a way that accuses the person (e.g. why did you do that?).

Using words like "how" and "what" instead have a better effect (e.g. what was the reason that caused you to do that?. This is why the Prophet never asked Anas "why did you do this" or "why didn't you do that?"

What are some more? Would love to hear from you 🙂
